Thankful
Updated: Jan 31, 2022
It’s been some really quiet and relaxing days. I’m deeply thankful for this time of restoration after this busy year and also for good friendships that I can enjoy.
Thankfulness
Let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them! Let the trees of the forest sing, let them sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures for ever. [...] Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said ‘Amen’ and ‘Praise the Lord.’ (1. Chronicles 16,32-36, NeÜ)
These verses of King David that he wrote immediately after bringing the ark of the covenant back to Jerusalem fascinate me over and over again. He describes in such a beautiful way how God’s creation, the trees, the fields and the sea are worshipping God. They’re celebrating him. Why? “For he is good and his love endures forever”. For me it’s not always easy to say ‘God is good’ or ‘all things turn to good’. Often our circumstances are not good, we experience pain and we go through tough times. But especially in these moments, we need to keep in mind that ‘God is good’. He makes all things good. Our wishes and expectations often don’t see the whole picture, but God does. And so, after the hardest year for me, 2020, experiencing a lot of setbacks, I can truly say that this was also the time of my biggest growth. Praise be to the Lord from everlasting to everlasting! Amen.
Stuttgart
In the past week I was able to spend two days in Stuttgart with Micha & Anna, two really good friends of mine. We had such a good fellowship, amazing conversations and shared life together. Tuesday evening I met up with two DMG missionaries, Sam and Chris. We got to know each other during my preparation time and it was great to catch up with them, encourage each other and pray for each other.
Wednesday morning I went to Stuttgart to meet up with Hanna, a good friend of mine. And in the evening I was able to share in a small group about my ministry and South Sudan.
It’s reallly been such a blessing and I’m deeply thankful for this small journey to Southern Germany. Especially as the two weeks prior to that have been troublesome and without any motivation. Cancellation after cancellation pulled me really down. If it was the planned England-trip or a concert that we were planning to film. After these disappointments it was amazing to get out again. One thing’s for sure here: I’m thankful.
Surprise
Make yourselves ready for an insane project coming right after Christmas. I don’t wanna spoiler too much of it, so be sure to check out my upcoming newsletter. I can say that much to this point: It’ll be incredible!
Outlook
The Christmas days will be really relaxing and I’m really looking forward to meet up with some good friends over this time. January will then be more packed and exciting. I’m planning on Snowboarding for a couple of days, I’ll be photographing a wedding and I’ll be in the US for about five weeks. I honestly can’t wait!
With this in mind I wanted to thank you all for your support, your kind messages and words as well as your prayers! I wish you all a Merry Christmas! Stay safe.
